The long anticipated Hideo Kojima and Guillermo del Toro collaboration has been officially revealed in a slightly ambiguous trailer during the 2016 Game Awards.
The trailer depicts a desolate dystopian landscape, complete with dead Crabs, war-torn buildings and military-esque fighter planes soaring above the scorched earth.
The viewer is introduced to a bearded man carrying a small canister containing a fetus.
In the first sneak preview, actor Norman Reedus lay on a beach connected to a small infant, and then proceeded to collect the child only to have it melt away into a black liquid.
On a potential release date, Kojima stated, “It will be out before the Olympics,” referencing the 2020 Tokyo Games.
“To go a little further, there is a movie called Akira, and it will be out before the year in which Akira is set,” he continued.
